Open day JSI -PROMEDLIFE

Date: March 23, 2024
Location: JSI, Department of Environmental Sciences, Slovenia

Every year, the Jozef Stefan Institute (JSI) organizes the Open Day, where the public is given an insight into the work of the JSI.
In connection with the PROMEDLIFE project, JSI researchers presented the aims of the project and led a workshop on important topics related to dietary habits. Moreover, educational scenarios designed for schools were presented to the public to help them educate the children about food and nutrition topics, such as understanding nutritional table, functional food, additives, local food, quality schemes of foods, traceability of food, food fraud and grocery shopping tips. Participants were introduced to tools such as nutritional label reading app, which is designed to make it easier to understand the nutritional information on foods. They also had the opportunity to taste various food products with different quality shemes, including those with geographical and organic indications. A notable highlight of the event was the presentation of new snacks developed as part of the PROMEDLIFE project, which demonstrated innovative approaches to promoting healthy eating habits.
The feedback from participants was very positive. Around 200 participants showed great interest in the workshop, the aims of the PROMEDLIFE project, and the presented educational materials.
